The founding home of the roasting empire – a long time Surry Hills favourite for coffee discerning aficionados – the café and storefront boasts a functional layout and comfortable dining arrangement. Rich expresso shades come in the form of hardwood surfaces and tactile cork-finishes upon the service counter and scattered in the cloud-like geometrical arrangements upon the ceiling. Mini parachutes reminiscent of coffee filter domes delicately float below them. A brusquely finished optical black and white feature mural creates the illusion of recessed depth within the compact rectangular space, it’s dribbling paintwork alluding to Single O’s pioneering introduction of drip filter coffee to Sydney.
